The History of Clos Saint-Fiacre
The Montigny-Piel family has been perpetuating the winemaking tradition of Clos Saint-Fiacre in Mareau-aux-Prés for several generations. The family has been cultivating vines there since 1635 on the best terroirs of the Orléans and Orléans-Cléry appellations of controlled origin (AOC).
Bénédicte and Hubert Piel took over the family estate in 2001, following in the footsteps of Daniel Montigny who worked for 25 years at the head of the wine syndicate to obtain the Orléans and Orléans-Cléry appellations.
The family now operates 15 hectares of vines.

Description

This wine is made from the blend of Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir, a great originality of our appellation.

Ruby colour, intense nose, aromas of ripe red fruits. Gourmand on the palate, well structured with spicy notes, reveals silky tannins.

Tasting:
To be enjoyed at around 15 °C, the colour is a shimmering ruby, red fruits explode on the nose and the palate is perfectly balanced, long, suave and very supple.

Culture:

The vineyard is managed in sustainable farming. The vines are grassed and pruned short. Every year, we carry out meticulous disbudding with the removal of double buds to offer the main bud maximum aeration and light in order to obtain optimal ripeness. We also carry out a green harvest if necessary.

Winemaking:

The harvest is destemmed before a cold pre-fermentation maceration of 48 hours. This is followed by traditional alcoholic fermentation at 25 °C in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with daily pumping over. The maceration lasts about fifteen days before ageing in stainless steel vats and bottling at the property.
