39,00 € incl. VAT
The Domaine de la Bergerie is located in the heart of Anjou Noir. The region is so named because of its dark soils, mostly composed of a schist basement. There is also sandstone, puddingstones, clay… and many other geological nuances. The 27 hectares that make up our vineyard will therefore benefit and be enriched by this diversity. They are also exposed to a certain mildness of oceanic influence. This unique terroir allows you to explore all the facets of the estate’s grape varieties, such as Chenin, Cabernet Franc, or Pineau d’Aunis. In order to preserve and enhance the soils and the diversity of the place, the estate has been certified in organic farming since 2016.Thus, on these lands, the history of the Guégniard family has been written for several generations…

Description
In medieval times there was a special tax. The peasant had to give the lord owner of the land the best “Quarter” of his harvest from the plots of Chaume… Today, the quality of this “Quart” is still as incredible as ever, as evidenced by this cuvée.
GRADE
TERROIR
Location: Chaume, Hamlet of Rochefort-sur-Loire
Soil: Schist, puddingstone and sandstone. The south-east exposure of the sloping plot, and the proximity of the Layon are all important here.
WINEMAKING
A long pressing here participates in the search for concentrated aromas. Fermentation and ageing are carried out in barrels.
TASTING NOTES
All the strength of the terroir is expressed thanks to this cuvée. At this stage, it is notes of candied and roasted fruit that bring volume to the tasting.
To accompany it, a classic continues to prove itself, namely, a piece of Fourme d’Ambert to contrast the sweetness of the cuvée. We can also tell you about a Lobster roasted with spices. Combine the Quarter-Stubble with Lobster: it’s a guaranteed explosion of flavours!
OUR ADVICE
We recommend a serving temperature between 10°C and 12°C with possible decanting.
Although it can be tasted now, this wine has a great ageing capacity. So you can wait ten, fifteen years… and much more. Some thirty-year-olds of this appellation still show signs of youth.
Food & wine pairings:
Breton biscuit, Light spicy cream with cardamom, Candied orange marmalade.
