The Domaine de Nerleux: rooted in history, looking to the future

A testimony to the time when the wolf was an animal of our countryside, Nerleux means black wolves in old French. It has been a long time since the wolves gave way to the vines on the land of the Domaine de Nerleux and the sound of the pruning shears has replaced the howling. But the nobility of men and wolves has left an indelible mark on the estate, on its terroir, and then on its wines.

It was in 1870 that Eugène Neau, already from a line of winegrowers in Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg, bought this former seigniorial estate to expand his vineyard. The 4th generation of the Neau family settled at the Domaine de Nerleux.

In total, nine generations of winemakers have succeeded each other, before giving way to Amélie, the first woman of this descendant. A heritage marked by sharing, conviviality, collective commitment, as well as the passion to always surpass oneself and sublimate the appellations of Saumur wines.

Winemaking

Long and delicate pressing followed by meticulous settling at controlled temperatures of 12 to 15°C.
Controlled fermentation at low temperature (17-18°)
Alcohol content: 12.30° – Total acidity: 5.5 – Residual sugars: 0.5g

Breeding

Ageing on fine lees in vats, then filtration with bottling at the end of March 2025.

Serving: 10 – 12°C

This wine is perfect for quick consumption… but will also evolve very well over a few years

Tasting

The colour is a very pretty canary yellow.
The nose expresses notes of white fruits, citrus fruits and

flowers.
The palate is round, velvety but also very fresh.
