A little history…
Established in the Middle Ages around the abbeys, the vineyard aroused the interest of the kings of France in the sixteenth century.
In 1577, the parliament of Paris promulgated a law prohibiting Parisians from buying wines produced within twenty leagues (88 km) of the capital. To meet its demand, the extension of plantations was initially carried out around Orléans, then increasingly downstream, towards Blois and Tours.
The terroir and the people made it a quality wine that was recognized in 1993 by the AOC.
