TERROIR
21 hectares of vines around the village of Turquant, a winegrowers’ village, also known for its troglodytes.
The vineyard located on the “Saumur-Champigny” appellation of origin benefits from the very special geographical location; protected by the forest of Fontevraud l’abbaye and the Loire, it benefits from exceptional sunshine and mild climatic conditions.
It was the Romans who named this terroir Champigny or “field of fire” because of this amazing micro-climate. History meets current events since the region’s vineyard has been chosen to represent the Loire Valley as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The terroir is composed of a warm clay-limestone soil on tufa rock which absorbs winter rainfall and slowly releases it during the summer.
On this exceptional terroir, two grape varieties are fully expressed: Cabernet Franc for our red wines and Chenin for our white wines
