The history of Clos Saint-Fiacrespan
The Montigny-Piel family has been perpetuating the Clos Saint-Fiacre winegrowing tradition in Mareau-aux-Prés for several generations. The family has been growing vines here since 1635 on the best terroirs of the Orléans and Orléans-Cléry appellations d’origine contrôlée (AOC).
Bénédicte and Hubert Piel took over the family estate in 2001, following in the footsteps of Daniel Montigny, who worked for 25 years at the head of the winegrowers’ union to obtain the Orléans and Orléans-Cléry appellations.
The family now farms 15 hectares of vines.

Description

Chardonnay vines around thirty years old on sandy-gravelly terroirs on limestone and sandy-clayey subsoil
Fermented and matured in stainless steel vats.
A Chardonnay that is beautifully fresh and supple on the palate, with notes of peach and citrus fruit and a fine saline finish.

Tasting:
To be served between 10°C and 12°C, our Orléans blanc has a brilliant straw yellow colour and a nose of white flowers, peach, apricot and citrus fruit, with a palate that is initially lively, then warm and unctuous, with a saline finish.

100 % chardonnay blanc

Culture:
The vineyards are cultivated using sustainable methods. The vines are grassed and pruned using the Guyot simple method. Every year we carry out meticulous disbudding, removing double buds to give the main bud maximum ventilation and light.

Winemaking:
We only pick in the morning to take advantage of low temperatures to preserve maximum aromatic freshness. This is followed by pneumatic pressing and static cold settling at a temperature below 10°C for 36 hours. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at 18-20°C and the wines are matured on fine lees until bottling.
