Description

This red wine is made from the Abouriou grape variety. Originally from the south-west of France, it is not widely known, but it has attracted the attention of several winegrowers in Nantes. It is generous and lends itself to the production of red wines with a strong character.
Terroir : South-west facing slopes
Sandy soil on micaschists
A precious terroir …We owe the character of our wines to the terroir of the estate. It is essentially made up of small hillsides facing south or south-west. It consists of sandy-loam soils on micaschists.
The plot is planted on a two-sided cordon. This is how we tame this grape variety so that it reaches a fine level of maturity, particularly phenolic maturity. The latter is also encouraged by green harvesting, which improves the exposure of the bunches to the sun.
Maturity checks are carried out regularly to target the optimum harvest date. The harvesting machine, operated with precision, enables the ripe berries to be picked quickly.
The wine is made without sulphiting. A traditional maceration lasting at least 7 days extracts the dark sarobe colour and relatively silky tannins.
This red wine has a dark color with violet highlights. It asserts its personality with its power and aromatic richness, ranging from black and red fruits to chocolate and spicy notes.. On the palate, it combines freshness and well-developed tannins following barrel ageing for 3 to 7 months. It will appeal to lovers of original, characterful red wines.
It is ideal as a base wine for red Sangria. Grilled meats marinated in spices, duck breast or lamb.
